Watch the story

01 / Main film

The life before the picture.

A quiet documentary portrait of work, family, place and the encounter that opened another direction. The film stays close to Pugur and lets the landscape speak at its own pace.

Film · 03:36

Pugur’s story begins in rural Penestanan, with a life shaped by work, family and the village landscape. The editorial account follows a meeting with Arie Smit and the point at which painting offered a different direction.

The change was not an instant escape from ordinary life. It was a bifurcation: the same fields, water, animals and ceremonies could now become a language—and that language could carry a life forward.

“Nothing around him changed at once. Everything ahead of him did.”

02 / Behind the film

Life around the frame.

The backstage layer keeps the camera, family, studio and village visible. Short observations replace a polished making-of narrative.

02

Family remains inside the story.

The artwork filmed in a quiet temporary studio.
03

A temporary cinema for a permanent work.

The village landscape surrounding the film production.
04

The landscape is not a backdrop. It is the source.

03 / Artist context

Penestanan and the Young Artists.

Pugur’s work is presented in the context of Penestanan and the group commonly described as the Young Artists. The final account will be published only after artist review and source verification.
